Understanding Car Scanner Codes
In humans, a certain term is given to a certain illness in order to set it apart from the rest. This term should not and cannot be used for another form of illness and its associated symptoms. Terms like cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other diseases are unique to each one and cannot be interchanged. Along with the label comes a specific set of interventions that is aimed at relieving or curing a particular condition. Interventions for cancer are not applicable to those suffering from diabetes alone and vice versa. The same thing goes for car scanner codes.
Car scanner codes come in various combinations. Each code represents a certain error in the car’s engine or system. These codes appear whenever the car computer finds something wrong when doing a routine check. Problems affecting the speed controls, brakes, fuel delivery, spark timing, and emission systems often result to codes revealing themselves.

Uses of a Diagnostic OBD2 Scanner and Information on ‘Check Engine’ Faults
‘Check Engine’ Indication Lamp which is also known as ‘Malfunction Indicator Lamp’ (MIL) is a safety device for the vehicle’s user (driver) that something is not right under the hood. The only way to detect the fault and finally reset the fault is by using a diagnostic OBD2 scanner. All cars from 1996 onwards use the second generation OBD2 software system (On-Board Diagnostic II system). Today’s cars are all controlled through a Powertrain Control Module (PCM), also known as the electronic Engine Management System (EMS) – which is your engine’s computer. Europeans refer to this as the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) – which is the same thing. So if an MIL light goes on you will have two options
1. Take your vehicle at your main agent (dealer) or at a vehicle specialist
2. Read out the fault codes and do the required repairs yourself
